Marist College Online – A cut above

Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY is not only one of the best colleges in the country, it is rich in history. The college started out, like several other colleges, as a seminary in 1929. By 1946, the school was granted a 4-year charter, which led to the construction of several new buildings, which then became called Marian College. Construction continued through 1957 with the addition of a chapel, gymnasium, and residence for the Marist Brothers. Dr. Linus Foy was made president of the college in 1958 at the young age of 28, making him the youngest college president in the country. In 1960 Marian College became Marist College, and the school began offering evening classes.

The school continued to grow in size and in population, and continued to add new programs and amenities. In the 1972, the school introduced an MBA program as well as a graduate program for community psychology. Marist is known for keeping up with the times and with the rapid advancements in technology, the school always seems to be “in the know”.

Marist College Online MBA Program

Marist College Online in NYNow with the trend of online colleges and online degrees, Marist College has jumped on the band wagon with Marist College Online, offering a variety of graduate and undergraduate degrees in a system they call “eLearning”. Their MBA program is accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). In fact, Marist was the first college in New York State to offer the entire MBA program online for students.

In a nutshell, here’s how the online MBA program works: Every student is assigned a user ID and password that allows them to gain access to the course content, the classmates and the instructor. Students communicate with the class through e-mail, bulletin boards and chat rooms (or “conference rooms”). All of your work and assignments are completed and submitted online. Students can access lectures, share notes, work on group projects, and even take their exams online too! The need to go to the campus is not necessary at all! This is strictly a non-campus program. You can even complete your work in your pajamas if you’d like.

The MBA online course does have expectations that you must meet, as well as assignment deadlines, and exam deadlines, but overall the MBA online course does enable you to have the freedom to access your class at 2:00pm or 2:00am, whatever can fit into your schedule. The only thing different about online courses at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY is how you submit your work. Otherwise, your reading material, assignments and tests are exactly the same.

The entire online MBA program (30 credits with an undergraduate degree already completed) can be completed in about 2 years at the least. Each course is about 15 weeks long, and is available 24 hours a day. The cost for each 3-credit course is about $2,000. Since most graduate students are working full-time, the school encourages the students to inquire about tuition reimbursement from their employer, as they may offer that as a benefit.

Marist College is one of the leading colleges in not only New York, but in the country. Earning an online MBA from them is one of the best decisions you can make!
