Degrees Life Experience

There are few things from degrees life experience can’t teach you. But, unfortunately, that is rarely enough for a company when they think of hiring you. They want real proof that you have the knowledge and skills necessary, and while some might take an equivalent of experience, most will not.

This is a common problem for people who have been working a job for a long time, but have never gone to college to prove they know what they are doing. When this happens, they take a leaf out of the ‘degrees life experience can teach book,’ and they take the CLEP.

What is the CLEP?

The CLEP is an exam designed for those who have a great deal of knowledge on a topic, but no college experience. This means anyone who has been working a job without an education, or people who are in the armed forces, who learned while serving but didn’t get certification to prove it.

The CLEP determines how much knowledge you have on any one of 34 topics currently authorized by the U.S. Department of Education. Each exam gives you credits to use towards a degree, so that you can get a college certification, without spending years in classes.

Why Should I Get a CLEP?

If you want a job, you need a degree. Or, specifically, if you want a career you do. While some jobs will accept a High School Diploma or GED, if you want something steady, high paying, and exciting, you will need some kind of college education to get there.

This is hard when you have the years of experience, and not a lot of time to go back to school. The CLEP will help you determine your level of comfort and knowledge with a topic, and get you there faster.
